The inside cover of the book has the color regional map of all China showing the main cities, rivers and Beijing, the Forbidden City of the Imper|About the Author|Teresa Coleman is a specialist in Chinese textiles and has lived in Hong Kong since 1982. Miss Coleman has collected textiles for many years and now owns an extensive collection of Chinese embroideries and costume accessories.

Some of the finest silk embroideries were made for the Imperial Court in the Forbidden City, where a mandarin in a dragon robe carried the power of the Emperor. Power, poetry, philosophies; all the symbols are explained and illustrated in use on actual garments in this book.
